Vintage Millinery Hat Stretcher Stockman London
This is a stunning vintage millinery solid wood and steel Stockman hat stretcher, made 20th century.
Example like this are rare and you can tell the stretcher is heaped in history, and it has had a productive life handled by hard working artisans. They are built to be practical, robust, but most interesting of all they have a tactile charm that draws you to touch them. If on display in a room it takes centre stage drawing the eye and provoking conversions about a time when things were individually made with love and respect for the fabric and the customer.
Condition - used very good condition and has wear, scratches, dints and the measure plate is in excellent condition. All as you would expect from an used item of this age. It's in working condition. The stretcher has a smooth action and can be used as a decorative item, or by a milliner to produce hats once again. It has a lable under the base and is worn, but you can still read Stockman London (see pictures )
