A fine 18th Century English Oak Blanket Box/Coffer

On castors (this is genius). Easily moveable
These coffers often used by people who travelled with their belongings these early antique English oak coffers or chests lend themselves to being very versatile and have found their way over the years many types of usage. Often highly decorative, (families would often save and have a carving added as and when they could afford it). They blend in well with other oak period furniture, or with modern surroundings, displaying their versatility as a focal point, coffee table, side table, storage in halls, corridors, bedrooms, sitting rooms. These genuine antique oak coffers come in a variety of sizes and can range from substantial proportions and weight to the small and quite delicate. The decoration range from very simple if any at all or very intricate each one skilfully hand carved by a craftsman. The details from different regions and timelines give a clue to their origins, and occasionally to their family ties.
