Description

A rare original British naval WW2 telegram announcing the Japanese surrender. The pencil written telegram is dated 15th August 1945. It starts by saying 'Most Immediate HM government has announced that the Japanese have surrendered all effective operations are to cease forthwith'.
'Splice the Mainbrace'
On the reverse is written ' craft, u-boats and aircraft may persist for some time to come'.
An usual and rare surviving document.
